Dear Parent/Carer,

 

As you are probably aware, the staff at Birkenshaw First and Nursery School were recently assessed and retained Investors In People status, in recognition of the school’s investment in the training and development of staff.

 

During this academic year our status as an Investors In Pupils school will also be re-assessed. The principal aims of this initiative are to:

 

§         Empower all pupils

§         Increase motivation and self esteem

§         Contribute to raising achievement throughout the key stages

 

Investors In Pupils is a quality award, aiming to improve the children’s understanding of their own role in the learning process. Pupils set their own targets related to learning, behaviour, attendance, classroom management and induction.

 

All supporting adults are involved in the process. These include parents and carers, teachers, ETAs, lunchtime staff, governors, cleaning and office staff. We are keen to encourage parental interest and involvement in this initiative, so please talk to your children about the work they have been doing and we are sure you will find that the children are enjoying working for this award.

 

It is important to highlight that Investors In Pupils, builds on the best practice, which already exists at Birkenshaw First and Nursery School.
